India is the home to several hundred language. According to constitution of India, there are twenty two officially listed languages. Some are listed as scheduled language and some of them has been recognised by government of India as distinctive classical language such as  Kannada , Malayalam , Odia , Sanskrit , Tamil and Telugu .  Classical language status has been  given to languages which have  rich heritage and are independent in nature.
